Hello students, welcome to Kwickprep. Millions of young Indians work for companies they may never visit, in countries far away. How is that possible? Today we will learn about the B P M industry in India, how it grew, where it works, and the jobs it offers.

First, let us see how B P O changed into B P M. In a B P O, the team does a task exactly as the client tells them. B P M stands for Business Process Management. In B P M, the team runs the whole process and also improves it. It uses technology, like automation and data analysis, to make the process faster and cheaper.

Let us compare them side by side. A B P O focuses on doing the task, while B P M focuses on improving the whole process. A B P O team follows the client's rules, while a B P M team also suggests better ways. A B P O mainly uses phones and computers, while B P M adds automation and data analysis.

Let us take a bank's loan work as an example. With loan forms, a B P O types the data, while a B P M team also checks and reduces errors. With customer calls, a B P O answers them, while a B P M team studies why people call. So with B P O the work gets done, but with B P M the work also gets better.

Now let us look at how this industry grew in India. In the nineteen nineties, some global companies set up their first back offices in India. The government's Software Technology Parks of India gave companies fast data links and support. In the two thousands, call centres grew quickly in many Indian cities. Today, many of these companies have grown into B P M, using automation and data analysis.

India is a world leader in this industry for five reasons. We have a large, young workforce, and many speak good English. Costs are lower for the client companies. The time difference lets Indian teams serve clients at night in their countries. India has strong telecom and internet networks. And the government supports the I T and B P M industry.

B P M companies work in many Indian cities. Bengaluru in Karnataka is a major hub. Hyderabad in Telangana is another. Chennai in Tamil Nadu is also a big centre. Pune and Mumbai in Maharashtra have many offices. Gurugram in Haryana and Noida in Uttar Pradesh serve the Delhi region.

The industry is now spreading beyond big cities. Many companies are opening offices in smaller cities too. Examples include Jaipur, Indore and Kochi. Office rent is lower, and staff do not need to travel far. This brings good jobs closer to young people's homes.

Indian B P M companies offer many kinds of services. Customer care handles calls, chats and emails. Finance and accounts work includes billing and payroll. Human resources work helps with hiring and staff records. Healthcare work manages medical records for hospitals. Analytics turns large amounts of data into useful reports.

There is an industry body you should know. Nasscom stands for the National Association of Software and Service Companies. It represents India's I T and B P M companies. It publishes industry reports and runs skill programmes for young people.

Now, what jobs can you get in B P M? A customer care executive helps customers on calls, chats and emails. A process associate handles one business process, like billing. A quality analyst checks the work and suggests improvements. A team leader guides a team and meets targets.

To work in this industry, four skills help most. Clear communication matters, in English or in an Indian language. You need basic computer and typing skills. Patience and politeness help you handle angry customers calmly. And you must be ready to learn new tools, because technology keeps changing.

Pause and predict with this example. A team types insurance forms for a client. Then the team studies why errors happen. Then it changes the steps so those errors stop. Is this B P O or B P M? It is B P M, because the team improves the whole process, not just the task.

Let us revise what we learned today. B P M means running and improving whole business processes. It grew out of B P O in India from the nineteen nineties. India leads because of its people, low cost and time zones. Major hubs include Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and many more cities. And jobs in this industry need good communication and computer skills.
