Hello students, welcome to Kwickprep. A college student notices that canteen lines are too long and builds an app to pre-order food. That student is thinking like an entrepreneur. Today we will learn who an entrepreneur is, the key skills, how a business idea grows, and support available in India.

Let us begin with the meaning. An entrepreneur is a person who spots a problem or an unmet need. They start a business or venture to solve it. They take a risk, because they invest money and time without a guaranteed profit. When the business grows, it creates jobs and value for others. Entrepreneurship is the process of doing all this.

Let us compare an employee and an entrepreneur. An employee earns a fixed salary, but an entrepreneur's income depends on the business. The employee's risk is low, while the entrepreneur's risk is high. An employee follows decisions made by others, but an entrepreneur makes their own. Entrepreneurs often work longer hours, especially at the start.

Now the skills every entrepreneur needs. Creativity helps you find new ideas and new ways to solve problems. Risk taking should be calculated, which means you study the risk before acting. Decision making and leadership help you guide a team. Money management means tracking income, costs and profit. Persistence means you keep going even after a failure.

Businesses come in different forms. A product business sells goods, such as handmade bags or snacks. A service business sells work or skills, such as tuition classes or phone repair. An online business sells through a website or an app. A social enterprise earns money while solving a social problem, such as clean water.

An idea becomes a business in clear steps. First, spot a real problem that people face. Next, think of many ideas to solve it, and choose the best one. Then research the market, which means finding out who will buy and at what price. After that, write a business plan. Finally, launch in a small way, learn from customers, and grow.

Market research means collecting facts about customers before you invest. First ask, who exactly are my customers? Next ask, what do they need, and what do they pay today? Then study your competitors, the businesses already selling something similar. A simple habit is to talk to twenty real people before spending any money.

A business plan is a written map of the business. The idea part says what we sell, here a home made tiffin service. The customers part says who buys, here hostel students. The costs part lists money spent, which is sixty rupees for each meal. The price part shows money earned, which is eighty rupees for each meal.

Let us work out the profit together. Each meal costs sixty rupees to make. Each meal sells for eighty rupees. The business sells fifty meals a day. Pause and predict the daily profit. Profit per meal is twenty rupees, so fifty meals give one thousand rupees a day, before other costs like rent and delivery.

India supports new entrepreneurs in many ways. Startup India gives recognition and some tax benefits to eligible startups. The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana offers loans to small businesses without collateral, which means no property is pledged. Skill India runs training programmes for job and business skills. Many colleges also have incubation cells that guide student startups.

Failure is a normal part of entrepreneurship. Most new businesses face setbacks in the first few years. A good entrepreneur studies what went wrong and why. Then they change the plan and try again, wiser than before.

Let us revise what we learned today. An entrepreneur solves a need by starting a business and taking a risk. Key skills are creativity, calculated risk taking, leadership and money management. An idea becomes a business through problem, ideas, research, plan and launch. Profit is price minus cost. And India supports entrepreneurs through Startup India, Mudra loans and Skill India.
