Hello students, welcome to Kwickprep. Will AI take away jobs, or create new ones? The honest answer is both, and the new jobs need new skills. Today we learn why AI skills are in demand, the main job roles, starter skills, and AI in four industries.
Let us start with why AI skills are in demand. Banks, hospitals, shops and farms now collect huge amounts of data every day. Companies want AI to handle routine work, like sorting forms or answering common questions. But few people can build, use and check AI systems well, so skilled people are scarce. Governments are also investing, for example India approved the IndiaAI Mission in twenty twenty four to build computing power and skills.
AI changes jobs more than it simply removes them. A person who once typed forms may now check what the AI has filled in. A worker who sorted items by hand may now manage the machines that sort. And support staff who answered basic queries now handle the difficult cases the chatbot cannot solve.
Now the common job roles. A data analyst cleans data and finds trends, often shown in charts for managers. A data scientist uses statistics and machine learning to build predictions, like which customers may leave. A machine learning engineer builds models and makes them run reliably inside real apps. A data annotator labels data, like marking cars in thousands of road photos, so models can learn. An AI ethicist checks that systems are fair, safe and respect privacy.
There are also roles linked to the domains of AI. A computer vision engineer builds systems that understand images, like quality checks in a factory. An NLP engineer builds language systems, like chatbots and translation tools. A robotics engineer combines AI with machines, like warehouse robots. An AI product manager decides what an AI product should do and guides the team building it.
Pause and predict a role for each student. Riya loves charts and patterns, so data analyst suits her. Aman loves coding and making apps work, so machine learning engineer suits him. Neha cares about fairness and rules, so an AI ethics role suits her.
Now the skills to start with, and you can begin in school itself. Mathematics, especially statistics and probability, is the base of every model. Python is the most widely used programming language in AI. Data handling means cleaning data and drawing charts to understand it. Communication matters, because you must explain results to people who are not experts. And ethics helps you build AI that is fair and safe.
Here are beginner tools, and most are free. A spreadsheet is the easiest way to sort data and draw charts. Jupyter Notebook lets you write and run Python step by step in your browser. Pandas is a Python library, meaning ready made code, for working with tables. Scikit-learn is a Python library for building simple machine learning models. Google's Teachable Machine lets you train a small image or sound model without writing any code.
Now let us see AI across industries, starting with healthcare and finance. In healthcare, AI helps doctors read x-rays and scans faster, and the doctor makes the final call. AI can also screen eye photos for diabetes related damage, where specialist doctors are few. In finance, banks use AI to flag unusual payments that may be fraud. Lenders also use AI to study repayment risk before giving a loan.
Next, agriculture and education. In agriculture, a farmer can photograph a sick leaf, and an app can suggest the possible disease. AI also combines weather and soil data to advise when to sow or water. In education, learning apps give each student easier or harder questions based on their answers. AI can also check quizzes quickly, so teachers get more time to teach.
So how do you begin today? Take your AI and computer science subjects seriously, because they build the base. Practise Python a little every day, even fifteen minutes. And build one small project, like a model that tells ripe mangoes from unripe ones, and show it to your teacher.
