Why give only width?
Short answer. Height adjusts by itself, so the image keeps its shape.
What does alt do?
It shows words if the image cannot load.
Remember
width, height: size in pixels
Give width only to keep shape
alt: text if image fails
Your photo did not load. What does the visitor see? Width sets the size in pixels. Height adjusts by itself. If loading fails, the alt words appear. Width and height set size. Give only width. Alt shows words if it fails.
